Mixing Instructions for 2:1 Deep Pour Epoxy Resin
Tip: If your resin is cold you can warm up Part A and Part B in a tub of warm (not hot) water for 5-10 minutes. This will make it easier to mix and release bubbles.
Equipment: scales, plastic container for mixing, stir sticks, plastic spreader, torch, gloves, safety glasses, alcohol and microfiber towel, respirator (optional). We recommend plastic tools when working with resin as epoxy resin does not adhere to plastic, making cleaning much easier.
Steps for mixing deep pour epoxy resin:
- Mix ratio is 2:1 by weight - exactly weigh Part A and Part B
- Pour Part B into your mixing container first, then add Part A. Slowly mix Part A and Part B together for 4 to 5 minutes until the resin becomes clear from cloudy - it's a good idea to set a timer.
- Ensure you scrape the sides and bottom to mix thoroughly. Mixing too fast will introduce more bubbles, so mix at a steady speed.
- Add colour as required, or separate your mixture into smaller mixing containers and add colour/s
- Let the mixed resin stand for a few minutes to help release the air bubbles. Pot life for the 2:1 deep pour resin is a lot longer than the other resins - up to 50 minutes, however, it is recommended to pour your mixed resin out as soon as possible.
- Apply to your project
- Quickly torch, if necessary, do not over torch and do not torch after 10 minutes
- Once you have poured your project do not move or touch it while it is curing, however, continue to check your project and you may lightly torch small bubbles for up to 30 minutes.
- Cover your project to protect it from dust.
- Keep the temperature consistent (18-20 deg celcius) during the curing process.
- In about 48 hours your project should be hard to the touch, after 72 hours it will be fully cured.
- We recommend you leave river tables for 5 days to cure before demoulding
